Brave Girl

Sleepy girl in recovery

After a month and half of extensive bloodwork, x-rays, visits to Hematology/Oncology doctors and Pediatric Surgeons; Avery had a large lymph node removed from her armpit.  Praise God the biopsy turned out bengin and any fears of cancer have been erased!  She was the bravest little girl during this whole ordeal.  The child-life specialist were awesome at the hospital.  She got to paint, make a necklace, and read a ton of books while waiting for surgery.  The procedure left her with a small incision that doesn't seem to bother her too much.  The most painful thing is the fact that she can't swim for two weeks!  I feel like our kids have taken us for a ride in terms of health related issues, but this roller coaster was certainly the scariest.  As a parent you never expect a doctor to discuss the possibility of your child having cancer.  It was an emotional couple of weeks for our family.  The phrase "don't sweat the small stuff" rings so true these days.  My kids are healthy - life is good!
