Tackle Football

This year I feel like we have officially boarded the ship of competitive sports, and it is taking some getting used to.  The competitiveness in the kids and coaches has defiantly gone up a notch which has its good points as well as it drawbacks.  In 3rd grade I just want Cael to have FUN when he is playing sports, and not take it too seriously.

Cael played tackle football this fall, and is now on a tournament basketball team.  Football was super fun, a lot of work, intense, and nearly gave me heart attack on a couple of occasions.  Cael played defensive end for the Black Warriors and did a great job!  He practiced for 2 hours a night for 3 or 4 nights per week and had one game each weekend!  His coaches were serious about the game, but they did balance their intensity with good instruction and encouragement.  Cael really loved his team and loved game day - especially the championship game which his team won!

Now on to basketball...lots and lots of basketball!

i'm glad to hear he loved playing ... and that they did so well! it is sad to witness some of the crazy competitiveness that happens, even with the children. i can't believe how many practices some kids do, too! enjoy basketball season : ) always good to hear from you, M!
