This past weekend was busy, productive, and FUN! Corbin got a ton of maintenance work done around the house , and I got to spend a little time with my dear friend Chandra who is visiting from Texas. Her little boy, Anders, is about 3 weeks younger than Gabriel and absolutely adorable! I miss my friend more and more as the years go by. She is one of a kind...a truly irreplaceable person in my life. Anders is a blessed little boy to have such a great mommy!
As I left Chandra's parents house and traveled out to the lake for a little birthday celebration (my dirty 30 is tomorrow), I took a detour and drove past the house where I grew up. I prepared myself thinking that it might make me a little sad to see where I spent a good chunk of my life. To my surprise, it looked nothing like I remembered! The house looked smaller, or maybe the trees around it got bigger. The weeping willow tree that I used climb and swing on the branches was gone. All of my moms beautiful wreaths and potted flowers weren't there. It made me realize that a house is just a "thing". The people and the love you share with those people is what makes a house special.
